Ludger-Hölker-Hall

Renewed Excellence at the Air Force Officer Training School in Roth.

The Otto Lilienthal Barracks in Roth have undergone a major transformation, turning from a site once scheduled for closure in 2011, into Germany's Air Force Officer Training School. With a €262 million investment, the campus now accommodates up to 2,000 military personnel, offering modern state of the art facilities including twelve accommodation blocks, a sports centre, medical building, canteen, and teaching spaces. As of October 2025, up to 800 course participants can be trained concurrently.

Acoustics and 3D design combined – the Ludger Hölker Hall

Central to the campus is the Ludger Hölker Hall, an 800-seat auditorium equipped with advanced lighting, sound technology, and a 60 m² LED wall, which serves as a central location for lectures, assemblies and conferences.

Vogl Deckensysteme's 3D ceiling construction integrates acoustics, aesthetics, and technology seamlessly. Based on a three-dimensional tube CD substructure and areas of steel frame construction for the egg-shaped dome, an acoustic plaster system on site was used to create a homogeneous absorption surface that combines optimised room acoustics with an appealingly homogeneous aesthetic. Combined with special moulded parts for the execution of the curved light cove, the interior design of the room is discreetly understated yet, on closer inspection, impressively rich in detail.

The 3D structures from Emskirchen contribute significantly to the functionality and prestigious appearance of the auditorium, combining individual design with targeted colouring in this nationwide flagship project.
